Reports To: IYBA Board of Directors
Position Overview
The International Yacht Brokers Association (IYBA) is seeking a dynamic and strategic Executive Director to lead and optimize the organization’s day-to-day operations while advancing its mission to support and elevate the global yacht brokerage industry. IYBA is the world’s largest organization of professional yacht brokers and affiliate member totaling 2,000 members globally.
The Executive Director will serve as a key partner to the Board of Directors, translating strategic vision into operational execution, enhancing member value, and ensuring organizational efficiency, growth, and financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
• Oversee all day-to-day operations of the association, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
• Implement and refine organizational processes, systems, and policies
• Drive operational efficiency and scalability across all programs and services
Strategic Execution
• Partner with the Board to execute strategic initiatives and long-term planning
• Translate high-level objectives into actionable plans with measurable outcomes
• Monitor performance metrics and report regularly to the Board
Membership & Industry Engagement
• Enhance member experience, recruitment, and retention strategies
• Strengthen relationships with yacht brokers, charter professionals, and industry stakeholders
• Identify opportunities to expand IYBA’s influence within the global yachting community
Revenue & Growth
• Oversee revenue-generating programs including events, sponsorships, education, and digital products (e.g., platforms like Yachtr)
• Develop and implement strategies to diversify and grow revenue streams
• Ensure financial discipline in collaboration with finance leadership
Team Leadership
• Lead, mentor, and develop staff and contractors
• Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture
• Ensure clear accountability and professional development across the organization
Governance & Compliance
• Support the Board in governance best practices
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and ethical standards
• Maintain transparency and strong internal controls
Qualifications
• 5+ years of senior leadership experience, preferably in an association, maritime, luxury services, or related industry
• Strong operational and financial management background
• Demonstrated success scaling organizations or leading through growth and change
• Experience working with or reporting to a Board of Directors
• Knowledge of the yacht brokerage or marine industry or allied field is not mandatory but desirable
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
