Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – February 9, 2016 – The Florida Yacht Brokers Association (FYBA), the world’s largest association of professional yacht brokers and yacht charter agents, has elected a new association president and new members of its board of directors for 2016. The results of the election were announced at the FYBA’s Annual Meeting, which was held January 23, 2016 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Fort Lauderdale. 

The new president of the FYBA is Paul Flannery of SYS Palm Beach (a division of Sarasota Yacht & Ship). He was elected to a one-year term as president, replacing Gary Smith, also of Sarasota Yacht & Ship. Flannery previously was FYBA vice president and has worked on several of the association’s committees, including serving as chair of the Arbitration & Ethics Committee.

“We are excited to have Paul Flannery take over as the association’s new president,” said Cindy Sailor, FYBA executive director. “He is a consummate brokerage professional and has been involved in the boating industry since his childhood. We look forward to working with him in our ongoing efforts to grow FYBA’s membership and provide more value to our members.”

New members elected to the FYBA Board of Directors for two-year terms include Jeff Stanley of Gilman Yachts and Rob Newton of Yachtzoo. They join the following existing members of the board:

• Bob Denison – Secretary – Denison Yacht Sales

• Bob Zarchen – Treasurer – Ardell Yacht & Ship

• Paul Burgess – Northrop & Johnson

• Jason Dunbar – Luke Brown Yachts

• Jeff Partin – Camper & Nicholsons 

• Bruce Schattenburg – Denison Yacht Sales

“We are honored that these busy individuals have chosen to volunteer their time to serve on FYBA’s board,” Sailor said. “Their combined knowledge and expertise will serve the association and its members well during the next two years.”
